Balance training & functional fitness exercises can help older persons maintain flexibility, balance and coordination. Someone who is functionally fit is more likely to live independently. But, the main benefit of functional fitness for seniors is that they can improve their balance and proprioception (the body's sense of where it is in space.) This improved proprioception makes them less likely to suffer a fall that could be debilitating. Most people of any age can benefit from adding balance training to their daily workout.
